1. What this is — and isn't
Chances.ai is an experimental tool that uses generative AI (Google Gemini) to produce probability estimates and reasoning for questions you submit. The output is for entertainment, reflection, and thinking-tool purposes only. It is not factual prediction, statistical modeling, professional advice, or guidance you should rely on for important decisions.
2. Not professional advice
Nothing this app produces constitutes:
- Medical or mental health advice
- Legal advice
- Financial, investment, or tax advice
- Career, relationship, or life counseling
- Any other professional advice
If you are facing a serious decision in any of these areas, please consult a licensed professional.
3. AI limitations
Output is generated by a large language model. It can be confidently wrong, internally inconsistent, or factually incorrect ("hallucinate"). Probability values shown are not derived from real-world data or statistical models — they are the model's best guess, expressed numerically. Treat them accordingly.
4. Crisis and mental health
This app is not a crisis service, therapy, or mental health resource. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please stop and contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services now.
The app includes automated language detection that attempts to avoid returning a probability for crisis-related input. This detection is imperfect and must not be relied upon as a safety mechanism. You are responsible for seeking appropriate help when needed.
5. Age requirement
You must be 18 years of age or older to use this app. By clicking "I agree" you confirm that you meet this requirement.
6. Your API key, your responsibility
You provide your own Google Gemini API key to use this app. The key is stored in your browser's local storage on your device and is transmitted only to Google's servers when making API requests. You are responsible for:
- Keeping the key confidential
- Any usage charges Google bills to that key
- Risks arising from shared devices, malicious browser extensions, or any other party with access to your browser
The operator of this app does not see, log, store, or transmit your API key.
7. Data sent to Google
When you submit a question, the text is sent to Google as part of the Gemini API request. Google's processing of that data is governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy:
The operator has no access to this data.
Analytics: if you tap “Accept” on the analytics banner, this site loads Google Analytics to count visits and which screens are viewed (this sets cookies). Your questions, your readings, and your API key are never sent to Analytics. Tap “Decline” and nothing is loaded. You can change your choice by clearing this site’s data.
8. Local storage
Your readings, settings, and API key are stored in your browser's local storage on your device, and your API key never leaves your browser except to call Google. The questions you submit are also logged — with the resulting percentage, a timestamp, and nothing that identifies you — to the operator's private database, used only to monitor and improve the service. These logs are not shared and not linked to your identity. To delete the data held in your browser, clear your browser's storage for this site.
9. AI transparency
You are interacting with an AI system. All readings, percentages, and reasoning shown in this app are generated by a large language model and are not authored by a human.
10. Entertainment purposes only
Where applicable under local law — including but not limited to New York Penal Law §165.35 and similar fortune-telling, divination, or psychic-services statutes in other jurisdictions — this app is provided for entertainment and amusement purposes only.
11. "As is" — no warranties
This app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, all warranties are disclaimed.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will the operator, its affiliates, or contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages — including but not limited to damages for harm resulting from decisions made based on app output, lost data, lost opportunities, emotional distress, or any other loss — arising out of or related to your use of this app, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
In no event will the operator's total cumulative liability to you for any claim related to this app exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you have paid the operator in the past twelve months (which, for a free app, is zero), or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD $100).
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the operator from and against any claim, demand, loss, expense, or liability (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the app, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any applicable law.
14. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. If they change materially, you will be asked to re-agree before continuing to use the app. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the app shall be resolved in the courts of Tokyo, Japan, unless local consumer-protection law grants you the right to your local jurisdiction.
16. Severability
If any provision of these terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
17. Entire agreement
These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the operator regarding use of this app and supersede any prior agreements.
